about

The song was written about our friend Michael Majewski who fell to his death while hiking in beautiful Squamish July 11, 2009:

Crazy Bomber was sitting around the dinner table about to go have a jam when we got the news from Leezus' other bandmate Dan.

lyrics

We just buried a friend
He was always there with an outstretched hand
A grin and a nudge in the side
And we will never see him again

You live on in hearts
But it's not the same
We wish you were here instead

Pain
Loss
The pain of the death a friend

The pain of death

So happy to be alive
I think of you everytime I post a flyer
Everytime I drink a Zywiec
I wish you were here to enjoy it

You live on in hearts
But it's not the same
We wish you were here instead

Pain
Loss
The pain of the death a friend

Here is a part of the lyrics that did not make it into the recording. They were intended to go in the background of the 'Pain of Death' section. At Michal's funeral, most of what the Priest had to say was about God, except for a segment suggesting Michal had not devoted enough of his time to God. These unrecorded lyrics represent what seemed to me to be Mike's way of life:

Don’t waste your life in pursuit of wealth and status
Give as much as you can to artistic endeavours
Expand this integrity and resolve into other facets of life
Money is no motive for creation

Enjoy your life but don’t forget about the important things
See the world and experience the beauty of nature
Cultivate many friendships - Touch every life positively
In the grand scheme your life is only as long as this song
